A highly interactive two days saw industry leading speakers and attendees from the corporate, financial and environmental sectors gather from 15 countries to discuss the current situation and future potential of Biodiversity & Ecosystem Finance. The discussion centered on the critical issues as we head for ‘biodiversity bankruptcy’ and whether biodiversity financing challenges will restrict our ability to benefit from the ‘green gold of biodiversity’.
The sector still faces challenges in mainstreaming biodiversity and ecosystem sustainability into corporate and asset management thinking. The industry needs to integrate with policies in agriculture and fisheries for example and also integrate with commercial pressures to drive the sector forward. Ecosystem service arguments must complement sound biodiversity ideals. That said the overarching theme of the event was that the industry is on the brink of something special.
We would like to thank all our speakers and delegates for their contributions and excellent debate and for making the two days so beneficial. We look forward to welcoming you to our next seminars in New York in January and Sao Paolo in April.
