James Stanway, Director of Project Development, Wal-mart Which part of Wal-mart's sustainability strategy was the most challenging? Engagement was the most challenging to implement as we have 1.8 million associates worldwide. Have you hired any new employees to reach your goals? Yes. We have hired three new employees across the company. What has surprised you most about this process so far? It has given many people a cause to pursue at work beyond the paycheck. Who do you benchmark your strategies against? We don’t do any formal benchmarking but talk with many companies. What is next for Wal-mart in this area? A carbon scorecard. Stanway will present more on Wal-mart’s plans for a carbon scorecard at Corporate Climate Response.
