The Utility Scale Solar conference held in Milan on 23-24 February 2010 was a medium and very lively event. 119 participants from across the entire supply chain of Europe, USA, MENA and Asia were present in the event. A good mixture of representative from governments, research institutes, investors, solar pv/component producers and project developers have enjoyed interesting and productive discussions. The sessions were very interactive and there were not enough time for all the questions. A lot of discussions were carried on during the break and most of speakers had received great feedbacks. Some Italian speakers (e.g. Federico Mander from West LB specially praised the internationality of the attendees) were impressed with the style of our conference. The conference was opened by Daniela Schreiber, Research Manager of EUPD and followed by a good mixture of keynotes from ISES Italia and Abengoa. It was a shame of the last minute drop out Fabrizio Bizzarri from Enel. The session was smoothed out with the help from Daniela. The general atmosphere is that PV is going to be the future in Italy since CSP is more expensive and technically more demanding. The current feed-in tariff is strongly promoting PV in Italy as well even though the new FIT will be announced in late March and should offer fewer incentives in the industry.
Feedback from the event: Feedbacks from one of silver sponsor Martifer: ‘The conference told me that it was well organized, very interesting with high quality speakers and speeches and networking opportunities. Moreover, one of my colleagues would push TERNA and ENEL people to be present in this kind of events. Overall, they consider it to be an outstanding conference, they were satisfied with our participation and they would surely recommend it to another division of Martifer.’ |
